WHY DO BLACK APPER ON CLOTH WHEN IT IS KEPT WET FOR MANY DAYS ?

google image
Mould can  easily grow on clothes and fabric leaving black spots if we have too much moisture in our home atmosphere. clothes made of cotton or other organic materials make great food sources for mould and mildew to live on. Such spots may appear in a unnoticed shirt in our washer which is due to moist, humid temperatures in the washer.  mould spores occur naturally in the atmosphere and settle and grow wherever conditions are suitable for them. Moulds grow not only in unnoticed moist fabrics but also can grow on the surface of any kind of materials like books, shoes, bags, curtains, rugs, carpets, mattresses, wood furniture, bathroom tiles, walls and ceilings.
Natural fibres are particularly prone to microbial attack as they are readily digestible by bacteria and fungi, while the synthetic fibres are not completely immune. Because they may also contain some additives, that may be a nutrient for microbes. wool is more likely to be attacked by bacteria than cotton while cotton is more likely to be attacked than wool by fungi.
Many different finishes applied on textiles and dirt as well as grease human sweat and dead skin from the human are excellent sources of nutrients for microbes, making textiles susceptible to microbial attack. the most common bacteria that grow on non-dried wet clothes are Stahulococcus aurues, S. Epidermidis,  corynebacterium, Escherichia coli and Proteus Vulgaris and the cloth damaging fungi are Aspergillus niger, A. furnigatus, Stacybotrys  Chartarum,Curvularia lunota, and certain species of Cladosporium, Penicillium and Alternaria.
The unpleasant odour results when, among other things, human perspiration is converted by bacteria into foul smelling substances such as aldehyeds, amines, ammonia, Sulphides, mercaptans, aromatics, lactones and fatty acids. while washing such infected clothes, brushing off the mould won't be enough. we have to apply bleach to remove the mould stains. In such case we must just make sure beforehand that the said fabrics can withstand bleaching - silks woollen and items should never be bleached  non-chlorine bleaches usually work fine with all other fabrics. It is also need to wash the clothes with a good  detergent. if they are not washable we must get them dry-cleaned. as much as possible, after normal washing, clothes should be allowed to dry naturally in the sun. so the only thing to avoid black spotting is to avoid putting the soiled or still wet clothes in the closets.

What is a Cuttle Fish ?

A cuttle fish is not a fish. It is a mollusc (fleshy animals without backbones ). It belongs to that class of huge molluscs which are "cephalopods"or "head- footed animals" they are called "head -footed", because of the peculiar formation of these sea -creatures- arrangement of their feet and arm like tentacles which grow around the head and the mouth;and the arm - like tentacles are extensions of their feet. octopus also belongs to this class of molluscs.
google image
The cuttle fish has a remarkable characteristic. Its travels silently and smoothly through. the water, moving the row of fins which are pasted to its shield - shaped body.when it moves erects the first pair of its tentacles or feelers and when it comes within the attacking distance of its prey, it suddenly shoots out its two long tentacles from pockets which are placed in its brood head behind its staring bulging eyes. It grasps the victim with suckers which are placed at thee end of these tentacles and then draws it within the reach of four shorter pairs of tentacles, which also have suckers, and are arranged around its head. It had a parrot- like beak. It the victim has a hard shell, it can crush it with the beak if it decides to retreat from an enemy, it backs away quickly by forcing out water through a tube called "siphon" when it wants to discourage the enemy from chasing it, it darkness the water with a massive discharge of an ink-like fluid called "sepia".

Glaciers  in the Himalayas are Shrinking rapidly - UMSEF

According to a new study, majority of glaciers in the tibetan plateau and the surrounding regions are retreating. The tibetan plateau and surrounding regions contain most of the world's glaciers out- sind the polar region.
The scientists found that the tibetan plateau and surrounding regious exhibited systematic differences in glacial shrinkage. the most intensive shrinkage is found in the himalayas (excluding the Karakoram). Here the reduction is greatest both  in terms of length and area, and also the difference between ice accumulation and loss (mass balance). In contrast, The least reduction is seen in  the pamir plateau.

                          Higgs Boson  (GOD) Particle

Google Image
On july4,2012 Scientists finally locked onto Higgs boson, the 'God particle' a discovery  that crowns The global scientific community's most challenging and comprehensive quest for the subatomic particle rightly regarded as "the key to the cosmic riddle. Scientists at CERN  (european organization for nuclear research.) Geneva, announced the discovery on july4, in the presence of a tearful peter Higgs and many other scientists. the break through has been described as the biggest leap in physics.

What is a Higgs boson ?

It enables particles in atoms to help invest them with mass, The basic building blocks of the  universe,
which include everything from the lowliest of micro- organisms, through soil, water, minerals, plants, trees, insects, animals and mountains  to the most complex life forms including humans, even entire planets and galaxies.
Higgs boson is named after peter Higgs, and Satyendra Nath  Bose,
Google Image
The discovery can been likened  that of the electron, a subatomic particle, the idler first being floated in 1838, but its presence was confirmed only after 60 years.  central to the discovery is the large hadron collider (LHC) the world's  largest and most powerful particle accelerator, housed in a massive 27 km circular tunnel some 175 meters underground near Geneva. It was built by cern from 1998 to 2008.the LHC smashes beams of sub-atomic particles such as protons virtually at the speed of light, recreating conditions that existed for a billionth of a second after the big bang, heralding the birth of the universe, Scientists say the missing cornerstone of physics has been discovered with the identification of a subatomic particle called the Higgs boson which could help explain why all matter has mass.

Scientists Make Robot that have Human Emotions

Scientists at the university of pisa, Italy, said on july 16, 2012 that they had edged  closer to the goal of creating a human like robot the announcement was made after the robot they had made successfully  displayed an array of human emotions  ranging from fear to happiness. It took about 30 years of research for the scientists to come  up with the robot.
The robot, modeled on a female human, is named FACE, It uses 32 motors in its face to simulate different expressions It can perform this routine in so  accurately striking a manner that it can almost look like a human. It depends an a software that mimics human emotional responses. the robot tells the motors how to respond in order to recreate  a specific look, and the special software then mixes the various emotions to produce the desired type of emotion,
The team led by researcher nicole hazzeri, modeled the robot on the wife of one of the team members. according to the daily mail, scientists present during the experiment termed the emotion. simulating performance of the FACE robot as "very realistic '.
